The Secret’s Out … Bolder Carlsberg ‘Where’s The Party? 2013’ Takes Off

July 15, 2021 – 2:12 pm Comments Off

The suspense was over. The day of one of Malaysia’s most anticipated party series had arrived and arrive it did bigger and bolder than before. Carlsberg threw another sweetener into the epic party this year by giving away 10 exclusive invites to the global Carlsberg Where’s the Party? that will be happening in Europe this August with none other than Axwell, formerly of Swedish House Mafia.

Clueless about the venue till they arrived, WTP 2013 took off in a cavernous hall at one of the country’s largest exhibition parks, which was transformed into a ‘jet-set’ venue complete with a rare Antonov airplane forming part of the backdrop. This year’s party was more than double the scale of last year, with the biggest turnout ever of 3,000 party goers from Malaysia and Singapore, and the breadth and depth of entertainment, stage and thematic set-up second to none. Carlsberg’s iconic WTP is for the bold who step up to earn an exclusive, money-can’t-buy invitation to a party where anything could happen.

At the party zone, Carlsberg fans were in for a mega night of visual and audio extravaganza, complete with pulsating beats, sizzling acts and ice cold Carlsberg beer, all orchestrated in a uniquely Carlsberg WTP style.

To kick off the party, new Carlsberg Malaysia managing director Henrik Andersen and Carlsberg Singapore managing director John Botia made a fitting appearance at the press conference when they alighted from the Antonov, accompanied by a bevy of brand ambassadors, dressed as air stewardesses.

Andersen said, “Air travel is our theme this year as we’re flying lucky Malaysians to Europe for our global party, we needed a massive place that would fit the plane and the huge crowd. This WTP is also about taking partygoers to new heights and it looks like we have set a new benchmark in the local party scene by creating another epic sensorial event.”

“For the first time in the history of WTP, Malaysians will be treated to the global WTP experience, where 22 nations will come together. Consumers bold enough to step up to the challenge will be justly rewarded with entry to this epic European party experience.”

With Malaysia’s very own stand-up comedian Douglas Lim opening the night and Swedish Dub House duo Cazzette headlining, WTP 2013 was a heady non-stop mix of international artistes and local heroes. Celebrity hosts Joey G and Patricia K made sure partygoers did not have a dull moment.

The night flowed with performers Nine Lives, Joel Turner, 3AM in the Valley and Big Skrptz from Australia, Korean Pop sensation Sweety, DJ Inquisitive, Miss Nine who hails from Germany, DJs Clazz and Ming Ming taking their turn on stage to give the crowd an inimitable blend of edgy dance music that kept them going till the wee hours.

This year also saw the first Carlsberg party mobile site introduced, making WTP 2013 the most socially savvy party around! Party goers just couldn’t help but flock to the ‘Be Bold’ mobile site to connect and meet new people, snap photos and take part in challenges that could win them passes to the global WTP. The ‘Be Bold’ Challenges were very well-liked and hundreds of uploads were displayed at the giant screen.

Others who prefer to chill and relax were kept entertained with party games that included the Loud Ludo, Marshall Matters, No-Sight Flight, Turbalance, Safety Slides and i-Darts.

WTP 2013 is again an epic one with multi faceted sensations. Whilst partying and dancing hard, party-goers were advised to drink in moderation and get their breath alcohol content tested. Over a hundred taxis were on standby to send consumers home.

The only question remaining now is ‘Where’s the party’ in 2014, Carlsberg?

Where’s The Party? Is Back!

May 9, 2021 – 4:52 pm Comments Off

Sssshh…….it’s a secret! Premised on the unknown, Carlsberg’s ‘Where’s The Party?’ (WTP) is not for the faint hearted, tired-after-one-hour, wallflower or need-my-sleep type. It is for those who are bold enough to take on a party of epic proportions because they know no other occasion can hold a candle to a Carlsberg WTP.

In 2012, WTP III saw 1,200 revellers from Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore being kept in the dark until the big reveal on which state the party was being held came merely days before. Still clueless on the venue and every other aspect, yet completely hyped about the endless possibilities that the unknown holds, people committed to WTP III and Carlsberg delivered on its promise of making it an epic experience.

First there was the venue renowned for rocking the night away, the Penang Hard Rock Hotel. But not satisfied with an indoor bash, Carlsberg played host at a beachfront extravaganza that was the party ground for the brand’s first ever 3-nation WTP. The music was wicked, with a series of internationally acclaimed acts and local powerhouses taking the stage including Mad August, Rubberband, Love Cubic, Kelis, as well as DJs Norman Doray, Mayumi and Nikki, just to name a few.  To top it all off, ice cold Carlsberg flowed. Who could ask for more?

Well, WTP is back and it holds the promise of being epic-er.  The fourth installation of one of Asia’s most unique and raved about parties this time around is set to take off on July 6 in Malaysia. Carlsberg’s lips are sealed on all the rest.

Loyal Carlsberg fans and those who want to be a part of the “It” group who make it onto the WTP IV list of guests, now need to pay close attention. The same rules apply which means WTP IV will remain a mystery in all manner of speaking, asides from the date of course. One should mark July 6 in your diary if you’re serious about partying with Carlsberg.

If the entertainment was wicked last year, it’s expected to be other-worldly this time around with stars from the local and global party stage congregating under one roof. And if you’re in, so are three of your nearest and dearest.

Keep your ear to the ground or you can go to facebook.com/Carlsberg or www.carlsberg.com.my for more information. Till then, here’s a glimpse into what happened at the last WTP. And remember, what happens at WTP, stays at WTP!

‘Where’s The Party?’ Delivers An Epic Adventure!

November 21, 2020 – 2:17 pm Comments Off

Carlsberg’s unique ‘Where’s The Party?’ event recently brought its entourage to the Pearl of the Orient – Penang for the one-of-its-kind party this year. Action packed with a marathon of games, assembly of international music maestro’s and ice cold Carlsberg beer, and the event was a rally of energetic vibes from beginning to end.

The distinct party series offers young party-goers the ultimate party experience. The mystery event hones in on consumers’ natural fascination with the unknown and challenges the curiosity of those who are bold enough to step out of their comfort zone for greater excitement and rewards.

According to Soren Ravn, Managing Director of Carlsberg Malaysia, the ‘Where’s The Party?’ series is a counterweight to the commercialization of how most music events happen these days. “This event is gaining immense popularity in Malaysia and is being stamped as an iconic party experience. The platform allows our consumers to get down with an edgy vibe that is completely unique. Coupled with the unknown adventure factor; ‘Where’s The Party?’ offers a complete experiential journey that you would definitely not get anywhere else.”

“Every detail of the party is meticulously brewed together. Consumers were transported on an epic crusade as soon as they made it onto the guests list, ensuring the experience remains extraordinary,” Ravn added

Entering its third wave this year, the first ever 3-Nation party saw 1,200 guests from Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore finding themselves on the shores of Hard Rock Hotel’s beachfront.

Partygoers congregated in droves at Queensbay Mall before boarding their respective buses to the hotel where they were greeted by a welcome crew of hostesses and percussionists. After check-ins, the event kicked-off with enthused guests darting towards the event site.

To keep spirits on a high-note, beach volley ball, a tug-of-war zone and a limbo-rock area occupied invitees as Twilight Action Girl spun a slew of hypnotic electro dance beats. DJ Nikki soon took over the decks rippling out chill-out house anthems, building the momentum for the main party zone.

Decked with a massive LED paneled stage, the central zone was outlined with a flow of streaking, spinning colours and a dance ‘cage’ in the middle of it all. Opening with Soren Ravn, jet-skiing into the party zone; the grand entrance made for a great kick-off introduction, followed by a beat boxing battle between Shawn Lee and the charming MD himself aka Star Rapper. Guests were throwing out constant cheers before celebrity hosts Joey G and Patricia K took the stage.

While a visual playground of lights danced across the sea of people, and pyros made for stimulating retina-seduction, Mad August a.k.a Crossfire had music lovers jumping around with enthusiasm. Rubberband then brought the house down with a 45 minute-set of no-frills Cantopop tunes, while the famous Love Cubic dancers from Korea chugged out hot moves to commercial favourites.

Genre-defying Dubstep and electro house pushed the tempo as DJ Inquisitive took on the wheels of steel causing dance mayhem in the ‘cage’. The tribal, percussive beats that cannot quite be classified left hands in the air and feet on constant overdrive.

Focusing more than ever on dance music with hits that flowed like a DJ set, left-field R&B and hip-hop diva Kelis was next on the line-up, and made her mark with pop-dance hybrids that left partyers craving for more. Throwing shape-shifting instrumental segues into the mix; the set brought the party into full swing.

Bringing it back to the eclectic sounds of Dubstep and electro house, producer and DJ Norman Doray surfed in and jacked-up the audience with a melodic treat of progressive sounds. DJ Mayumi then closed the night with superb hip-hop tones that left everyone shaking like a Polaroid picture.

The night ended on an astronomical level as revelers made their way back to their respective rooms in high-spirits and audible chatter. Making yet another experience an epic one, Carlsberg’s ‘Where’s The Party?’ showcased one of the most entertaining parties to hit punters, and the anticipation is already bursting at the seams for the next chapter.

The knowledge and awareness amongst consumers on the significance of responsible drinking is Carlsberg Malaysia’s top priority. The brewer deployed employee-ambassadors to encourage consumers to party and consume beer in moderation as part of its efforts in advocating responsible drinking.
