Nose
Light chocolate, malty on the sweet side

Taste
Entry is smooth with chocolate and light sweet roasted. Also bring a light roasted at the end with good vapour of alcohol that bring up the sweetness. At 10% the alcohol is nicely hidden. As you drink a long the roasted are strong but on the roasted bitter! Slow sip and drink will enhance the flavour.

My opinion
Very nice beer at 10%abv. Can be aged a bit longer will make it even more balance. Highly recommend with some sweet dessert.

Nose
Have a nice fruity not, have a light sweet and sour pickle fruit smell.

Taste
The roasted malty taste entry. Can taste the sour kinda like a coffee roasted. 8.8% ABV that will warm the throat. Can taste a light hoppy bitter with nice light grassy whisky.

Beer Pairing: Hokkien Keow Teow

September 7, 2020 – 7:46 am Comments Off

Most people will order Hokkien Mee, but I love Keow Teow and normally I’ll order mix. Ordering or add Keow Teow to Hokkien mee will make the texture of the food feel more sticky and oily which make it more sinful.

To paired with this dish is actually not that simple, the taste of the food is salty, aromatic in pork, some light seafood prawn sweetness and thick black soy sauce sweetness. It’s a mix of few different sweet and salty in blend of taste plus the taste of wok or char flavour. Because of the unique blend of flavour I’ll got for Weissbier to enhance the taste and aroma, to give extra malt flavour to it.

I may also go for stout with roasted malt taste but a chocolate stout will work better as the aroma of chocolate will balance up nicely. Can also try porter but have to have those sweet porter rather then heavy roasted coffee style which may cut off some taste.

One more on the list I would go for is Hoppy lager for the citrusy aroma with the heavy bitter. This will work if you are heavy “sambal” person. Some people love to eat with lots of sambal, that’s where this beer will paired nicer with enhance of the refreshing taste and the fruity note of the beer will blend well with chili.

Many may not notice the fruit and chili combination but if you have eaten fruit rojak then you notice that sambal/chili blend quite well with certain tropical fruits like mango and pineapple because of their sourness and sweetness. Let me know what you think, if you start pairing your food with beer. Cheers!

Try to wear green on that day, some place have free flow, some have free gift and some have lucky draw, no matter which place you prefer to go remember is all about going green for St Patrick. I’m not too sure when St Patrick’s Day become a beer drinking day and if for sure a stout night by all mean. I sure want to find out the answer. Maybe St Patrick’s is a master brewer himself… haha, Cheers!
