Paulaner Appreciation Dinner @ BoatHouse, TTDI

October 1, 2020 – 10:01 am Comments Off

Beerbeer was invited to Paulaner Appreciation Dinner at BoatHouse @ TTDI few weeks back. How can I reject beer and food? As most of you know that I always drunk and always hungry too… The above picture is the dishes that presented to us.

Obatzda (Bavarian Cheese Delicacy with Bread)
This dish is cheesy and nice. Pairing with beer can enhance the cheese flavour. Bread can be a bit filling, cracker will be a good alternative to it. But since it’s bavarian style, let’s stick with the tradition.

Griessnockerlsuppe mit Leberknodel
(Semolina Dumpling Soup with Liver Dumpling)
Light beefy soup with dumpling that look like meat balls. If you not a fan of liver you may not like the dish, but if you are a fan like me then the pairing works quite well. I actually quite enjoy it with Hefeweissbier.

Rinderrouladen mit Kartoffelknodel
(Beef Roulade with Mashed Potato)
After that we have this beef dish again. It may look like a normally meat ball with stuffing but the flavour of this is pack with beefy taste. The mashed is a good compliment to the tick flavours. It could be a bit filling eating this alone, is nicer to share this dish.

Some theatrical act while making the dessert sauce.

Kaiserschmarrn with Cherry Sauce
This is for sure a sweet tooth delight. A pancake with cherry sauce and strawberry, how can this go wrong. The sour and sweet of the strawberry does cut out some of the sweetness of the cherry sauce. Nice texture and good end to the meal.

Overall, I enjoy the meal especially a meal that I can paired with beer. The Oktoberfest Bier from Paulaner is a nice lager that works quite well with food. Certain dish may prefer to have it with hefeweissbier or Dunkel weiss. Having a beer to a dish is a bit too big portion, so if can share the beer and open up your palate will be good. Have fun with it and beside the usual German treats, maybe you can opt for the other dishes that you may find during this Oktoberfest. Cheers!

Facebook Survey – Paulaner Vs Hoegaarden

June 23, 2021 – 9:06 am Comments Off

I like doing all this survey to see how people react to the brands. I did make an spelling error on Hoegaarden on this survey by spelling it “Hoagaarden”. Sorry for that.

The shocking surprise is, I always though Hoegaarden is the best selling importehttps://beerbeer.org/files/d beer. but when it comes to taste on favourite among paulaner and hoegaarden, is quite tight to call with paulaner having a slight edge. If you still haven’t vote please click here and vote.

A Bavaria Experience!

April 13, 2021 – 9:27 am Comments Off

If you like German food and German beer, this is a spot that you must come. Brotzeit @ Mid Valley is a gastro pub that serve a wide range of bavaria food and beers. The first outlet I went is the one in Vivo City, Singapore. So now they have their flagship all the way to Malaysia. Which is a good news for us beer head!

For style, this place gain much respect for its interior and setup. Is really cosy and nice to have such a ambient all the way. Look very simple and neat. The place is not cramp with tables but space out nicely so that everyone can enjoy a good time there.

Of course my favourite place will be the bar. If I’m here just for the beer, this bar is for sure a place I’ll choose to chill. Very clean looking bar. I like how they play with the mix wooden texture and the dark wooden style to make the place very stylish. Simple lighting at the bar make the place more lively.

The dinning table look like those outdoor picnic bench and table but with modern twist. I actually quite like how they modernise the furniture to something comfy.

Many people may not notice, but the ceiling fan actually make a lot of difference to the place by circulating the air at the same time provide a nice breeze to the interior. Which actually feel kinda like outdoor mood. Great job.

Of course, the wallpaper or wall painting is actually quite pleasing to the eyes. Basically enhance the mood of the place. Normally dark interior is not easy to lit up the mood, but they plan their lighting well and the place feel very cosy.

The end wall, which made of beer bottles, enhance the lighting further. Is not too glaring, but just nice to lit up the whole place.

Up close, you can see the beer bottles stacking up to form a nice light texture on the end wall. I think enough praises to the interior, is time to move on to food and beer… haha

First we try the Bacon Pizza, it was something different. Full with bacon and mozzarella cheese and top with chili and local cili padi to add on the fiery power. Nicely pair with the beer with it’s porky flavour cheesiness and saltiness, easily paired with good old Paulaner Müchner Urtyp.

Then came the garlic pork sausage, which also full with flavour and garlic aroma. Come with roasted potatoes and sauerkraut to match with the sausage. It is a good starter dish, if you are a meat lover. Hard to describe the flavour, but it’s really nice.

Then came the big main course, the German pork knuckle. The plate presentation is too pleasing to eat it. It take some time before we sink our knife to it. Many not used to the German style pork knuckle as we are more familiar with the chinese deep fried style pork knuckle. For this, it has a thick crispy skin with tender meat below, top with some brown sauce to make it moist and pleasing to the palate.

Look at the amount of melted fat… by then we would have opt for salad to make ourself feel less sinful… haha. Like all dishes, is best to eat it while is still hot. After that we can feel the meat are getting on to us. Lucky for us, we have a variety of beers to choose from. To wash the fats away… I hope… haha

If you are not sure what to order, can always ask from the bartender to recommend or you can just go by the one on the draught. For you I would advice you try different beer every time you go there, reserve the high alcohol beer or dark beer for last and enjoy the lighter beer first. They also have some beer cocktails like Affensaft which mix weissbier with mango juice, for those prefer their beer to be sweet. Why not!

If you go with a few friends, can also order the mini keg and pour your own beer to have a good chill time. It come with a lovely wooden keg just remember not to steal it… haha

What I like most about the place is, all the staff are quite well train at least on the beer pouring department. It gives a good head and each pour is a delight.

Nice ambient give this place a plus, good beer selection add another thumbs up. As for food, I give another plus but have to bring more people so that I can order more and share the food and finish the food while is still hot and warm. Is one exciting beer place. Cheers!

Beers In Malaysia – Paulaner

March 31, 2021 – 3:28 pm 2 Comments

Paulaner
This is a German beer or to be exact a bavarian beer. A brand that closely link to Oktoberfest. It started quite well known in most German restaurant and later to some bistro in Malaysia. Although they may have many different varieties of beer choices, but the favourite among all is the Paulaner Weiss Bier Naturtrüb! Prost!
