De La Senne X-Mas ZinneBir 2013

January 9, 2021 – 10:23 am Comments Off

When the beer poured out?
Have nose of fruity grapefruit/lychee sweetness. Light malty.

How’s the taste?
The first few entry give a sweetness with fruity sweetness, dark fruit, light roasted. Then as you drink a long the bitter became more obvious. But it still linger light caramel on the finishing. Have that dark fruit flavour as well. There also this light faint nutty flavour that accompany with the caramel.

What’s the colour of the beer?
Dark brown.

Where to drink?
Will be available at Ales & Lagers while stock last.

My Opinion:
A lot of hidden surprises in this beer. Didn’t expect the beer to change character from a sweet beer and became hoppier as it gets warmer. Hit a few good notes for me. Is enjoyable to drink. I do like the light nutty flavour with caramel hint and bitter to it. De La Senne surprise me again. Cheers!

A Resounding Start to Carlsberg Malaysia Oktoberfest

October 3, 2020 – 10:27 am Comments Off

Don your lederhosen or your dirndl as Carlsberg Malaysia has brought Oktoberfest, the world renowned annual Bavarian festival, all the way from Germany to our neighbourhood bars throughout the big cities and small towns in Malaysia, with an endless flow of beer and fun.

Known as the country’s most authentic Oktoberfest celebration, Carlsberg Malaysia Oktoberfest 2013 is a beer extravaganza that offers the most loved beer brand, Carlsberg, as well as three imported Bavarian beer brands, Erdinger, Franziskaner and Lowenbrau, served in a collectible rugged-style stein that customers can take home and add to their collection of the past two years of Carlsberg Malaysia’s Oktoberfest mugs.

Flown in from Germany, a six person Oktoberfest Oom-Pa-Pah band will be belting out traditional Oktoberfest jingles and sounding a 12-foot long alpine horn from Germany to delight the crowd celebrating the merriness of beer festival.

Acclaimed as the first-of-its kind in Malaysia, the long horn has successfully made it into the Malaysian Book of Records as the ‘Longest Carlsberg Malaysia Oktoberfest Longhorn’. Topping the festival off are of course the lovely Carlsberg Dirndl girls, all beautifully decked in traditional Bavarian outfits to perform the witty “chicken dance” along with Oktoberfest revellers.

True to Bavarian tradition, Carlsberg Malaysia Oktoberfest campaign was officiated with the tapping of the ceremonial keg by Managing Director of Carlsberg Malaysia Henrik Juel Andersen, together with the brewer’s subsidiary Luen Heng F&B Sdn Bhd General Manager Kenneth Soh, Vice President, Passenger Cars, Mercedes Benz Malaysia Mr. Kai Schlickum and Ms Joyce Yap, CEO, Retail of Pavilion KL.

After the first keg was tapped, a resounding toot of the 12-foot long horn reverberated across the entire corridor of Pavillion, KL signalling the lovely Dirndl girls to invite beer lovers to show off their moves by performing ‘chicken dance’ and taking part in a range of fun-filled games including hat switching and arm wrestling which are all traditional mainstays of Oktoberfest events.

Andersen said, “Oktoberfest is about bringing people together in the spirit of good cheer and camaraderie while in the midst of enjoying food, music and beer in a responsible manner.”

“Throughout the month-long festival, beer lovers can enjoy the authentic yet uniquely Carlsberg Malaysia experience at selected eight venues nationwide, leading to a massive three-day Grand Finale party galore that will take place exclusively at Old Wing outdoor car park of our Oktoberfest Venue Partner 1 Utama Shopping Centre, Petaling Jaya on October 11th to 13th. These parties come complete with the collectible beer stein, authentic Oktoberfest Oom Pa Pah band, the record breaking 12-foot long horn, Carlsberg Dirndl girls as well as plenty of games and online contests where beer lovers stand a chance to take home more collectible premiums.”

“In addition, we partnered with our customers to co-host smaller parties at 38 western-concept bars and pubs and will be running the Oktoberfest promotion at over 300 outlets nationwide,” he concluded.

Adding to the spirit of Oktoberfest, Carlsberg Malaysia Oktoberfest calls upon beer lovers to take part in Facebook activities, including Snap & Prost!, Shout Out Loud and Dirndl Girl Search to win free rounds of Carlsberg beer and attractive giveaways.

Guinness fans flocked to Sepang International Circuit for Arthur’s Day for a chance to catch their favourite performers rocking it on the Arthur’s Day stage.  The Arthur’s Day celebration in Malaysia was a smashing success as tens of thousands of fans strummed the air-guitar, rocked their heads and roared out singing to their favourite songs, all throughout the 5 hours of pure live music performances by; Five For Fighting, The All American Rejects and The Wanted. Not forgetting our local artists; Once Upon A Time There Was A Sausage Named Bob and Prema Yin who warmed up the Arthur’s Day stage!

“Arthur’s Day has always been about people coming together for unique and remarkable music experiences. This year we wanted to do more so we brought not just 1 but 3 international music icons for the celebrations here in Malaysia, making it one of the biggest Arthur’s Day celebrations yet. The month long Arthur’s Day parties nationwide was a hit with consumers as well. All in all, we had more than a hundred thousand people across Malaysia come together and raise a toast to Arthur and those who like him, make great things happen.” said Bruce Dallas, Marketing Director of Guinness Anchor Berhad.

Upon arrival, Guinness fans were brought through a journey through time of all things Guinness through the build up at the Guinness wall. With one foot on the concert area, the huge Arthur’s Day stage could already be sighted from a far. The Arthur’s Day stage, constructed from two stages, joined in the centre and spanning 150ft across, was an architectural marvel. Together with pints of freshly brewed Guinness, Guinness fans soaked in the lights, the sound and the atmosphere of people coming together for a global celebration.

As for the artists, they pulled out all the stops with more than an hour, pure ‘live’ band performances respectively, bringing to life the true meaning of what it is to experience a ‘rocking good time’! The massive crowd at Sepang International Circuit had their hands in the air and sang along when smash hits such as; Five For Fighting’s “Superman”, The All American Rejects “Dirty Little Secret” and The Wanted’s “Chasing The Sun” played.

“We had a superb time performing at the Arthur’s Day Malaysia celebrations and are amazed at the great turnout of crowd at Sepang International Circuit. It was great to meet our fans and it was surely a fantastic sight to see so many hands in the air, in unison cheering ‘To Arthur’! It was truly a spectacular moment and one we would always remember,” said Tyson Ritter, Lead Vocalist for The All American Rejects.

With the talented artists that take the stage, to the worthy awardees of the Arthur Guinness Fund, to the many millions of GUINNESS® fans around the world, people come together on Arthur’s Day to pay tribute to Arthur Guinness and the bold individuals just like him, through an epic night of music. With the 2013 festivities celebrated in style and a record number of people raising a toast to Arthur Guinness, plans are already in place to ensure Arthur’s Day 2014 is yet another night to remember.
