Wychwood Brewery’s Hobgoblin

December 29, 2020 – 8:18 am 4 Comments

Bought at Jasons Market Place. S$6.95, 500ml bottle @ 5.2% ABV UK produce, Traditionally crafted ruby beer. Love the cartoon character on the bottle.

Revealed it’s deep, dark ruby colour if you observe the beer from a concentrated light source. Sweet, roasted malt note. Light to medium-bodied. Heavy hops flavour covered anything else, almost numbed my tongue too. “HOP”GOBLIN ??? Tangy. citrus finish, followed by long and tons of hops aftertaste. Left some sticky, sweet, burnt malt in the glass after you’re done.

Made of Chocolate & Crystal malt, English fuggles hops, citrus aroma from styrian golding, a type of fuggles hops grown in Austria & Slovenia. If you like sweet malty beer with tons of hoppy flavour, this is the one for you.

Is it sweeter then the Stout we drank at Highlander Bar. Does it goes nice with Chocolate?

don’t think it’s nice to take with chocolate dude, pretty much due to the heavy hops flavour, but can try with dark, bitter chocolate, hey, y didn’t I think of that??? hehe… next time you come to singapore, v try it together… the drink we drink at highlander bar is scottish ale, this is not as sweet as the scottish ale. Btw, I think milk chocolate might be a good companian with the scottish ale.
