GAB Presents Special Beers This Oktoberfest
In the spirit to spread one of the world’s oldest festivals to Malaysians nationwide, Guinness Anchor Berhad (GAB) organised a special beer preview at Jarrod & Rawlins today to introduce its wider selection of iconic beers for the month-long Oktoberfest celebration.
This year’s Oktoberfest celebration will feature GAB iconic beers Tiger, Guinness, Heineken, Anchor, Kilkenny, Strongbow and Paulaner as well as special beers from Germany – 111 Zwickl Beer, Hopf Ice Wheat Beer and the official beer of the Munich Oktoberfest, Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier.
The preview saw a turnout of bloggers and media members who were in for a surprise as they participated in a blind tasting session, having to guess the three special beers based on their characteristics and tastes.

Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier
With 377 years of history, this bright yellow coloured, rich malty aroma, pleasantly taste, full-bodied beer has been regarded as a beer that is synonym with the world’s oldest drinking festival, the Munich Oktoberfest. Its alcohol content of 6% and original gravity of 13.5% makes it stronger than usual lager beer. With a hint of malty sweetness, this Oktoberfest Beer provides a perfect balance on the palate that is best paired with roast pork knuckles.
Hopf Ice Wheat Beer
Known as the ‘hip-hop’ white beer, attributed by its cool Husky logo, Hopf Ice Wheat Beer uses ice conditioned wheat where excess water from the wheat is extracted through freezing, giving more depth to the flavor and body. This process gives this celebrity beer its distinctive nice, crisp and clean taste that is refreshing, mild and invigorating at the same time. With its alcohol content of 5.5% and original gravity at 12.0%, this easy and light beer is best suited with seafood BBQ and mild cheese.
111 Zwickl Beer
This interesting range of beer was created in year 2000 by the master brewers of Auerbrau to celebrate their 111 years of successful brewing history. This refreshing trendy product possesses a sparkling full bodied and full flavoured characteristic and has a hint of flower and mild yeasty flavor. With 5.0% of alcohol content and 11.8% original gravity, beer lovers will love the wholesome taste that is soft on the palate. This easy drinking beer is best paired with summer salads, grilled seafood or chicken, cold platters and cheese.
