App For Your Beer Hunt

There are too many craft beers out there with selections that most can’t even remember the name. Thankfully with Technology on our mobile devices, we can easily snap the picture of the beer we drink and help us remember it.  Another easier solution is using an App on iOS or Android devices called Untappd.

You can key in and record down the beer you like at the same time rate then and load picture on it. Best part is you can even share it online on your social media or check out what your friends are drinking.

Is good as a reference for what you have drink and help me store up the beer you have drank before. You can download the app by going to their website https://untappd.com, have fun checking in with the beer and start hunting!

Converting To Craft Beers

May 25, 2021 – 10:50 am Comments Off

After almost 3 years doing craft beer shop in KL and the recently open craft beer bar. I notice that is not easy to convert a regular beer drinker to craft beers. There are 2 facts that I can’t easily change.

1. Price Point
Craft beers price is always around 3-4 times the price someone would pay for a locally brewed beer. With extra cost from importihttps://beerbeer.org/files/ng in the beer plus logistic the beer price skyrocket. hence a lot are not willing to drink craft beer at that price point.

2. Branding
Many beer consumers will go for the brand rather then taste. We did many blind test before to see how many people able to guess out their favourite beer. The percentage are low. Most consumer will go with famous brand and not so willing to give an unknown brand a go.

To my surprise, is easier to introduce a wine guy a craft beers then a beer drinker. I was pondering about this for a while. Then I guess I manage to find the answer. Coincidentally there are 2 facts to support this as well.

1. Taste
Wine drinker normally will taste the wine a bit more in depth. Smell and taste become normal thing to do when they have the first sip. Looking at the colour, the lace and the swirl makes them aware of the wine character. Hence they practice that with craft beers too.

2. Brands
The wine drinkers are not so brand conscious. Partly because, the fundamental are to taste and look at appearance. Sometimes a cheaper wine will taste better then the highly price wine. It be one a habit that they drink regardless of brand.

Well, converting a wine drinker to love craft beer is not easy but for them to taste the beer is much more acceptable compare to a beer drinker.

Is still a long way to introduce craft beer to the market. So to change people to try out craft beers, first we need to find ways to reduce the prices of the imported craft beers and secondly create a brand that people recognise and trust.

Well, creating a new market is always not easy but doesn’t mean it can’t be done! I’ll try my best to introduce craft beers to more drinkers! Cheers!

Druggist @ 119 Tyrwhitt Rd, Singapore

Craft beers scene in Singapore have grown rapidly for this 2 years. From Good Beer Company, Brewers’ Craft, Smith Street Taps, Thirsty… One of the newer ones are Druggist! Open by the same people that runs The Great Experiment @ Pasar Bella, Singapore.

They variants of Taps to choose from. 23 to be exact. Which is the most in Singapore when I visited during March 2015. Trust me, with that many selection on draft, is really spoil with choices!

The setup of the place is simple and clean. Have a touch of vintage Chinese setup and some modern elements to it. The place cosy with simple nice setup.

There’s no beer menu here except the big board above the draft. To order you have to go to the counter. You can place your credit card there if you plan to have a running bill. You may want to order when the line is clear. As the selection on draft is big, some may take a while to make up their mind.

The place is chill with nice air conditioning. As Singapore weather is just as bad as the Malaysian weather. I took a short walk from the MRT station. Chilling inside for sure is my preferred choice.

Although the there’s no bar here, chill out at the short table is quite cool too. The room space between is table is spacious enough. I may be the one that are too loud most of the time. I like that when the place is pack up, it’s just filled with talking sound.

They offer some snacks and bites too. I tried out the coffee pork ribs which is quite interesting. Roasted coffee aroma, nice sweet flavour and off the bones tender on the meat.

You can order the food at the counter too. They have a simple selection to choose from. This is the place that easy to go in but hard to get out. Because I would stay on try as many beers as I can. Highly rcommanded. Try it out yourselves. Cheers!

Bar Snack: Cincalok or Cencaluk

May 19, 2021 – 11:05 am Comments Off

Cantina’s guys (Curbside Cantina, Modena Cantina, Popup Cantina) came up with a shrimp taco which it’s quite special. The salsa for the taco they add in Cincalok.

Cincalok or Cencaluk is basically fermented shrimp, one of Melaka famous delicacy. Surprisingly a lot of younger generation of Malaysia don’t know what is it! I know this is a beer blog, I’m shock that how much Malaysia have lose it’s local food culture and heritage.

Well, to my surprise, not only Cincalok works well with salsa it also compliment with some of the hoppy beer. The pungent of the Cincalok and the aroma of the floral hops paired well together. The bitter of the beer blend well with the salty like fishy of the Cincalok.

If you are reading this blog and never try or heard of Cincalok before, it’s time to find out more and try it. Cheers, happy pairing!
