Stadt German Cuisine & Bistro @ Kepong

Stadt German Cuisine & Bistro @ Kepong

It was Merdeka, and what would be more special than having beer with your pals.  STADT, the place where many people have told me about was our destination and many hopes.  Anyway, Stadt serves German food and all time favourite pork knuckle.

The AMBIENCE has a family feel with bright lights, soft music and friendly waiters and waitresses.  Beer posters were everywhere and encouraging you to go German.

They served a variety of beers like Lowenbrau, Hoegaarden white, Carlsberg, Koenig Ludwig and the Weihenstephan.

DRINKS were pretty alright except that drinks were poured in the kitchen before serving.  I personally prefer to either pour it myself or they pour it right in front of me.  It maybe a personal preference but beer is something you want to smell and drink it will it is still chilled.  If pouring increases the temperature, I am sure travelling that distance may affect it… am I being a paranoid? LOL. Well, beer is beer, without food it does not really bring out the extra taste that we look for the whole time.  But what the hack! YUM SING first.

As for the FOOD, the pork knuckle could have been a little more tender and juicy.  As the knuckle is large, when you are finishing the huge portion, it gets a little chewy.  Over all, I do not think the extra honey they placed into the pork knuckle actually made a difference.

I think German food is good but why is everyone limiting themselves to just the same old German menu.  They should spend a little more time on other food man.

OVERALL, the restaurant appeals to families with reasonable pricing and a fair range of beers.  However, I do not think that this restaurant would stand out as a place to remember.

Two Monkeys @ JayaOne

Two monkeys is another pub at JayaOne. JayaOne is sure a nice place to do bar hopping. Two monkeys is a simple setup bar facing a very competitive from a very strong Brussels Beer Cafe just opposite the shop.

Luckily for them, the do serve a different beer from Brussels. At Two Monkeys you can find German brand like Weihenstephan and Paulaner. I heard they are coming with 4 more new beers. Can’t wait for that to happen.

The place have a lot of good ladies drink like Pinache and Wednesday is their promo night. They do serve Sol beer with the rest of the beer from GAB like Guinness draught and Tiger beer.

I found the place full of Guinness kaki (drinker). Maybe because of the promotion of 5 perfect for RM10 which I think is the cheapest in town. I went around 6pm, the crowd is full with working people. But is a nice place to chat at that place, as it’s not that crowded and they don’t switch on loud music, which I hate.

When it turn night, the place is cosy. I only wish the air condition can be more colder, so the place can be a bit more chill. But I believe this place will need more promo to fight with the beer cafe opposite them. Not only that, the beer choice is important. I thing JayaOne have become a place people seek for beer. So I believe the pub and bistro have to try harder to bring in more different brand of beer to have a good fight or share a part in this growing market.

Lucky for Two Monkeys, the food here is reasonable and delicious. I order the smoke chicken wing which goes very well with beer as tidbits/finger food. I don’t mind coming back here again for more beer and food. I think a beer menu will improve the place even more! Good luck Two Monkeys and Cheers! As I born in a chinese year of Monkey, I have good vibe with this place!
