Kuala Lumpur, 17 August 2010 – After much anticipation, GUINNESS® has officially announced the line-up of acts for Arthur’s Day 2010. Timbaland, legendary two-time Grammy award winning record producer, singer-songwriter, actor, musician and rapper, is set to energize Malaysia come 24 September 2010. Timbaland is popularly known for his chart topping albums such as “Timbaland Presents Shock Value” as well as his knack in creating hits for artists such as Aaliyah, Missy Elliot, Destiny’s Child, Ludacris, Jay-Z and many others.

It’s no wonder that this remarkable visionary is celebrated around the globe with a massive lineup of music events and festivities.”

Third Of His Kind

Sid’s Pub a place that need no mention for pub goers around KL. This is their third establishment at Bukit Tunku. Honestly this is my first time here after so many month the place open. Many readers and Beerbeer writer told me about how much they like the place. The reason I’m here because the fourth is coming soon, so I better review the third before the fourth is up and running… haha

Sid’s Bukit Tunku is a small establishment, with just simple setup. Look and feel exactly like all the Sid’s in town but smaller in size. This is like a mini version of the first and second Sid’s. One glance basically can see the whole place.

I like the old article hang on the wall, make the wall less bare but messy in certain ways. The cosy lighting make the place comfortable and easy to digest. Clutter but not in a bad way.

Outside setup with old barrels and bar stools which tell you that this place is typical for drinking. The rustic barrel give a sense of touch to this place. Choose to sit inside or outside is just a few steps away. I find not much different in both inside or corridor area, as the space is quite open. You can fell the space even if you stay inside.

Of course, Sid’s Pub won the Best British Pub outside of britain from The Telegraphs. As he proudly put on to display the cert and the trophy.

The bar is cramp with all sort of alcohol. If you look closely, you can see the money notes sticking on the display, mostly are from the customer.

Of course needless for me to mention that this place is famous for it’s Guinness, they have other draught like Kilkenny, Tiger, Heineken and Strong Bow. But most people are here to chill, the draught beer is selling like hot cake.

Most people just squeeze in and chit chat, with or without the chair is not really the matter. The most important thing is one hand must have a drink. The crowd is good but mostly expat from Bukit Tunku area.

I have to mention this as I think urinal is a must in all pubs, as it’s easy and fast for the guys. Many pubs don’t have urinal. For future owner of new pubs, please remember to put in urinals.

Sid’s Pub @ Bukit Tunky is a nice place to be, a local joint with british style pub. Simple and straight forward, no fancy music, no disco light. Just a place to go and have a drink and meet new friends. You can easily make new friends in Sid’s Pub, maybe because of the lighting, maybe is the waiter, maybe is the people, maybe is the bar, what ever it is Sid’s is always the best neighbourhood bar. Cheers to Sid’s!

The Place Legends Gather!

June 9, 2010 - 9:57 am No Comments

I was invited by a friend’s colleague to come check out this new place. At first I was skeptical as the name D Legends doesn’t sound like a neighbourhood pub to me. I scared it will be a boom boom loud loud cheeky bang bang kind of place. But I was wrong…

As I was early, the introduction night still young. Not many crowd but I can tell the place is nice in many ways. The ambient is quite cool, with all the mural of the legends faces painted on the wall.

Of course you can see Bruce, Michael, Bob, Marilyn, Jimmy… but I like James Dean mural the most. Is the expression that make him the legend.

I sat at the bar area, which I always does. The ambient slowly sip into me that this place is really chill and cosy. With sufficient place to actually let people dance during the groove music is played.

I like the light a lot, especially this one because it look like a puffer fish. The decoration are simple with just red, white and black contrasting each other. Blending in with the Legends mural on the wall, perfect ambient.

But I think the bar area can be more spacious. Is a bit short can only fit in 5-6 person. As for the for the introduction night the turn out was good, free flow of beers and wines plus some snack food of fusion indian cuisine… lovely to pair with those beers. Free flow will always attract people to come.

The crowd is healthy on that night, everyone mingle and chatting. As I myself also go around to meet some new friends. I remember got one part I was chatting with some Japanese in Japan… which I only know a few words of Honda, Toyota and Toshiba… the alcohol must have hit me by then. But I do enjoy the crowd, if the right tune is hit I may even dance there.

As for beer list, the usual Tiger and Guinness on tap. I do peak at their price list which come in quite reasonable. As world cup is just few days away, the manager told me that they will add a big projector screen to boost up the football fever.

A neighbourhood pub… I don’t think so, but a nice chill place sound more like it. Sure will be a happening place, but I do wish they serve some proper dinner rather then just snack food as it’s nice to chill from 6pm onwards. Congratulation to D Legends Bar for this nice set up. Cheers!
