A night out tasting beer – Deutsches Gasthaus
Last Saturday we went to this pub in Taman Tun Dr. Ismail (TTDI) called Deutsches Gasthaus. It was introduce to me by my colleague. So Stephen, Minjie and me go to this place first, while waiting for Victor and Winann to arrive, we order our first drink. We order Stell Artois (SA) draught and König Ludwig (KL).

SA draught test nicer then normal SA from the bottle. If Mohan you are reading this, your should drink this since SA is your favourite drink. Is easy to drink and got some fruity touch to it. SA is from Belgium, I like their pine glass which look like a big wine glass. Ladies should like the glass, not sure about the taste. It still depends on individual. I find it alright, and doesn’t really amuse me, cause not much after taste.

König Ludwig is a German Beer. This one is richer then SA, the colour is a bit muddy and is not clear colour. They have a thin long pine glass, like most of the German pine glass. The after taste is good, quite smooth and got the aroma.

Minjie learn a few tricks on pouring the beer to the glass, the technic is harder then we seen in youtube. He will work harder, as can be seen the left glass have a very tick foam (which mean pouring fails). About that time, Victor call to find the place, suddenly police came over to stop him as he was talking on the phone while driving to find the place. I have to give credit to Victor for not giving in to the easy way, and go for the summons. Cheers, Victor!

When they finally came in to the pub, they sat down and order Hoegaarden (Hg) White Draught and Warsteiner. Hg White is very easy to drink, you can basically finish the drink like a soft drink. It comes with a unique glass that I believe a lot people will steal. I do have that intention too. Hoegaarden beer came from Belgium and Warsteiner came from Germany. Warsteiner have a glass that look like is cater for the girls. Maybe that why Winann prefer the drinks compare to Hg.

As I don’t know what to drink, I order a Budweiser, which I don’t really fancy about. It didn’t come with a glass, just drink straight from the bottle. But it do taste better then what I expected and Min Jie order a Guinness draught. After drinking the beer, Victor already forgot about the summon he receive early on. Who said good beer can’t bring joy….haha

The Final beer we order for the night is Hoegarden Grand Cru. This is the best we drank for the night. It have nice after taste and can feel the rich flavour as it flow through my throat. The glass also like those wine glass. Is drinking beer as interesting as drinking wine? We must find out the mystery.

Deutsches Gasthaus also offer other brand of beer, beside the one we tasted. If you like to explore a bit of rich after taste beer, you should come here, as they do have a variety to choose from and their food is great (I heard). I never eat in this place before, as I just fancy for the beer.

Don’t forget to drink some plain water if you are driving back home, as the place are very near to police station, we don’t want you to get caught for drink & drive. This is one place that even your girlfriend will drink beer. So better be prepare that she maybe not be able to drive you home.

This is the address of the place, they have 2 more branches which I haven’t been before. It open till 2am on Saturday, but I remember, when I went of is around 2:15am and still have quite a bit of people inside. For those beer drinker out there, is time to go explore some good beer rather then just stick with normal commercial beer. While writing this post, maybe next time we will cover about the glasses too, as many are unique and nice as a collector’s item. We forget to do something on that night that is YumSeng. Till then, Cheers!!!

I’ve been to the one in Plaza Damansara. Interesting decor, good beer, good food. Spicy sausages or the sausages platter, very good with beer man.
