Stadt German Cuisine & Bistro @ Kepong

It was Merdeka, and what would be more special than having beer with your pals. STADT, the place where many people have told me about was our destination and many hopes. Anyway, Stadt serves German food and all time favourite pork knuckle.

The AMBIENCE has a family feel with bright lights, soft music and friendly waiters and waitresses. Beer posters were everywhere and encouraging you to go German.

They served a variety of beers like Lowenbrau, Hoegaarden white, Carlsberg, Koenig Ludwig and the Weihenstephan.

DRINKS were pretty alright except that drinks were poured in the kitchen before serving. I personally prefer to either pour it myself or they pour it right in front of me. It maybe a personal preference but beer is something you want to smell and drink it will it is still chilled. If pouring increases the temperature, I am sure travelling that distance may affect it… am I being a paranoid? LOL. Well, beer is beer, without food it does not really bring out the extra taste that we look for the whole time. But what the hack! YUM SING first.

As for the FOOD, the pork knuckle could have been a little more tender and juicy. As the knuckle is large, when you are finishing the huge portion, it gets a little chewy. Over all, I do not think the extra honey they placed into the pork knuckle actually made a difference.

I think German food is good but why is everyone limiting themselves to just the same old German menu. They should spend a little more time on other food man.

OVERALL, the restaurant appeals to families with reasonable pricing and a fair range of beers. However, I do not think that this restaurant would stand out as a place to remember.

there plenty of room to make the place better, but overall I don’t think it’s a drinking place, is more like a makan place to me. I won’t go there for a drink.

I do agree with you that the Kepong outlet is laidback for beer drinking. You should have been to STADT Puchong which is more conducive for your beer drink. The Puchong outlet has nice ambience and a long bar with appropriate drinking tables for beer enjoyment. The outlet has a fair range of imported beer which included draught beer such as Hoegaarden, Franziskaner, Weihenstephan and many others which I can’t remember.
