Supper Club @ PJ Newtown
I have pass by PJ Newtown many times, but I never stop by any pub before in this place. So I stop at this place called Supper Club. Honestly I never like pubs that are close door or don’t have window that show what’s happening inside.
You never know what the inside look like, until you open the door and get a surprise. I believe this place has been around for many many years. My first impression of this place is like those mafia movie, rustic setting, while at the back there sited the mafia boss.
The place is cosy and at the wall hang a lot of painting and artwork. Making the place more classic old pubs. Is this the old school pub that maybe my parent would have gone?
The place is so old that even the table cloth got hole. I think the owner need to renovate the place. Even with many air purifier the place still have the stain smell that already sip into the wood or furniture. Overall I already dislike the place beside the cosy mafia look.
But once my beer came and my food arrive, I start to forget all the things that in my mind before. Because when I have nothing to do, I look at the details, smell all kind of thing my nose can detect and that will spoil the reaction to the place.
The food is nicely done and quite a nice big portion. I order the chicken chop which come out quite nice. While sipping my beer opens up my appetite. As me and friend mingle, more and more family turn in for dinner.
I don’t think this place is suitable for kids or baby as this is a confine place and I can see a lot of smoker around. One thing I did notice is that many are regulars and they mostly come with their family. I kind make me wonder to compare the place with Victoria Station or ship, because the have almost the similar setting.
The bar area is pack with smoker and beer drinker. As that day I went also the first night of EPL, I guess many will turn up near the bar area for the match to support their team. With so many Carlsberg banner in the pub can I said they have many Liverpool fans?
If you are the old school type bar goer, have a try on this place. But to the owner of the place, maybe you should renovate to make the place a bit more fresh, then just rustic old place. Cheers!
